Singing Centre

The Singing Centre is the strand of the MAPAS Centre for anyone with a passion for singing. 

Nothing beats the feeling of singing with others. Our singing centre offers choral opportunities for everyone.

Below is a list of the different groups which are part of the Singing Centre including a bit of information about each group, when they rehearse and the entry requirements if you would like to join.

Community Choir

The Community Choir is our adult choir and is open to singers of all abilities. Come and enjoy the camaraderie and joy of singing together in a relaxed and friendly environment with guidance from our expert vocal tutor. The Choir rehearse and perform a diverse range of vocal music and perform regularly at MAPAS events as well as at their own concerts.

Oakwood Junior SEND Choir

This choir is for any SEND children with a love of singing or music making. Rehearsals are lively and fun as children develop their voices and instrumental playing as part of a group. The group rehearse at Oakwood Academy.

Rainbow Rooms Choir

The Rainbow rooms choir is for any young adults with SEND. The sessions are designed to build confidence and are adapted to suit each individual needs. Sessions contain plenty of fun and laughter and strong friendships are also formed. The groups perform regularly at our MAPAS Centre showcase concerts.

Singing Squad

This is our junior choir and is a chance for children from across the city to sing together in a fun and friendly environment. These sessions are led by one of our experienced vocal team who will develop your vocal technique through a series of inspirational and exciting songs. The Singing Squad are often involved in some of our most high-profile annual events including our 'Big Sing'

Wednesday 6.00 - 7.00pm

Youth Choir

If you wish to develop your singing style and technique alongside other like-minded vocalists then our Youth Choir is for you. The choir rehearse and perform music from an array of styles including gospel, pop, folk and world music to name just a few. The Youth Choir are also often involved in some of our most high-profile annual events including our Choirs @ Christmas event and 'Big Sing'
