Music and Wellbeing at MAPAS

Building confidence, connection and joy

Welcome to our wellbeing page —a space dedicated to exploring how music-making supports children’s emotional, social, and holistic development. Here you’ll find features on the ways our programmes nurture confidence, creativity, and connection, from whole class learning to individual and small group tuition to inclusive ensembles and celebratory events. Whether it’s building resilience through teamwork or sparking joy through singing together, our work places pupil wellbeing at the heart of every note.

Can Whole Class Instrumental Tuition support children's personal and social outcomes?

We recently explored how whole class instrumental tuition can support pupil wellbeing—and the results were inspiring. Our study found that making music together not only boosts confidence and teamwork, but also helps children feel more connected, calm, and joyful in the classroom. To share what we learned, we created a short video capturing the heart of this work. Here it is—take a look!

Tune-in To Talking and Wellbeing

We recently explored how music can be used to enhance speech, language and communication development in pre-schools children. The goal of the project was to support and encourage families to sing and engage in musical play with their children. We also looked to give confidence to staff in pre-school settings to use their own voices to sing and use music to support speech, language and communication. Watch this clip to see how we got on!
